Can you give our audience a few helpful 40 00:03:02.509 --> 00:03:06.669 hints regarding any changes that are taking place here in two thousand and twenty one? 41 00:03:07.270 --> 00:03:10.909 Yeah, there's some big ones actually that are probably already on most people's 42 00:03:12.069 --> 00:03:17.139 radar. But we are having the first change in evaluation and management codes since 43 00:03:17.180 --> 00:03:23.259 one thousand nine hundred and ninety seven that are in effective effect of January first 44 00:03:23.300 --> 00:03:27.250 of two thousand and twenty one. It's been something that's been in the works 45 00:03:27.330 --> 00:03:30.530 for a long time and just has never gotten across the line, but then 46 00:03:30.650 --> 00:03:38.009 the way that the codes are calculated. So there's a series of machinations and 47 00:03:38.129 --> 00:03:43.520 Algorithms based on bullet points and all these sorts of things that determine the level 48 00:03:43.560 --> 00:03:47.719 of code that was actually provided. It's why coders are hired in the medical 49 00:03:47.759 --> 00:03:53.000 profession to read the documentation and make them into a code. And so they've 50 00:03:53.039 --> 00:04:00.789 simplified this down to where we no longer calculate history and examination, but rather 51 00:04:00.830 --> 00:04:06.909 all the coding will be based on either time or pure medical decisionmaking. They were going to make 73 00:05:46.240 --> 00:05:49.990 it effective October, I'm sorry, August twenty four, but instead they have 74 00:05:50.189 --> 00:05:54.750 pushed it out to January first. So there is a new abn form that 75 00:05:54.829 --> 00:05:59.189 must to be used effective January first and a new set of rules that come 76 00:05:59.230 --> 00:06:05.060 along with what's called a qualified Medicare beneficiary and that's the beneficiary that's getting some 77 00:06:05.180 --> 00:06:10.860 additional assistants, perhaps a Medicaid that could be duly ensured. But there are 78 00:06:10.980 --> 00:06:15.620 very particular rules that have been in place around these patients and one of those 79 00:06:15.699 --> 00:06:20.170 things, for example, is that the the doctor cannot charge coinsurance or deductibles 80 00:06:20.209 --> 00:06:27.050 or things like that. And what's interesting is even if Medicaid in your state 81 00:06:27.250 --> 00:06:32.199 does not include Chiropractic, if they're a qualified medicare beneficiary, qmb, you 82 00:06:32.399 --> 00:06:38.199 still cannot collect even for maintenance care. So it's a very precarious rule. 83 00:06:38.240 --> 00:06:42.240 We've been training our clients on this for probably the better part of six months 84 00:06:42.279 --> 00:06:46.360 because it's going to be a big deal and and honestly, other than you 85 00:06:46.480 --> 00:06:47.990 know, just the day to day stuff.
